An elitist?  I’d rather have a College Professor than a Sports Reporter

Assume for a moment that you are the Chairman of the  Board for a Fortune 500 Company and your company is searching for a new CEO. The following resumes come across your desk:

Education

Applicant 1:
Occidental College, 2 years, Forbes 2008 Rank: 233
BS in Political Science/Minor in International Relations, 1983, Columbia University, 2008 Rank: 10
Columbia is a Member of the Ivy League
Post Graduate: JD, Harvard Law School, US News & World Report 2008 Rank: 2
Academic Honors: President of Harvard Law Review

Applicant 2:

Hawaii Pacific College, 1 semester, Not Ranked in top 569

Matanuska-Susitna College, 1 term, Not Ranked in top 569
BA in Communications-Journalism, 1987, University of Idaho, Forbes 2008 Rank: 275
In 1987 the University of Idaho was a member of the Big Sky Conference
Post Graduate: None
Academic Honors: None

I would stop reading there.  Work experience would be a moot point.  There is not enough work experience in two lifetimes to offset the educational disparity.

But I will go on:

These resumes do not even begin to compare.  Yet there are people who say Sarah Palin is more prepared than Barak Obama to be CEO of the most powerful country on earth.  Those people are either intellectually dishonest, even to themselves, and/or they put themselves, their egos, their ideology and their possessions before their Country.

There are those who say that Applicant 1 is an elitist and Applicant 2 is more “like them”.  They would like to have a beer with Applicant 2.  Do they know what they are saying?  Do they actually want this country run by some one who is just ordinary folk.

I have a decent education.  I hold a BS from a top 200 ranked University with some postgraduate work.  Former Classmates are accomplished respected Business Leaders, Lawyers and Judges.  There is no one I have ever had a beer with that I believe is qualified to be President.

Personally, I do not want a president who is the same as me, I want a president who is better.  I do not want a president who is ordinary; I want a President who is extraordinary.  I want the best and the brightest to lead this Country not the common and average.

But you say that Sarah is not running for President she is running for Vice-President.

Do you remember William Henry Harrison?
